just ramblin'
I know I am just rambling to myself but I guess I have done that for years so why stop now.....
The picture that makes up the heading at the top of this page was taken by my daughter Amy and is one of my favorite fishing spots. I wonder how many times I have buzzed past or drifted along those cutbanks along the Missouri River about 3 miles below the Big Bend Dam over the past 30+ years? Or how many fish we have caught near there? I remember once, my old white boat's motor died just around that last bluff. With a storm approaching, along came a boat with three of my former Phone company fellow employees in it, they pulled along side and 2 of my brother-in-laws jumped ship in to their boat so fast that it was like leaving the captain to go down with his ship. As the rain started to fall, they threw me a line and drug me to the boat ramp while lightning was cracking and the wind started blowing. Stu said that was the fastest he had ever towed a boat before, and as I peeled myself from the bottom of the boat, everyone was laughing. I went out and bought a more reliable boat......
PS- Today the temp is 61 degrees, but the wind is 36mph, so much for fishing.....
Hope you had a good Easter weekend, our kids were home and we Thanked the Lord for what he has done for us all......

Beginning to look a lot like Spring...
Yes it is, the weather is such a welcome change. Even though it is suppose to cool down this coming weekend and early next week, this warmer temps remind me of getting the boat out and crusing down the river. My accident this winter has left my shoulder pretty weak. I hope to get some strength soon so I can lift the boat trailer and hook it up to the pickup.
The reports are saying that the ice is getting sort of weak along the river around here, the open water below the dam is full of boats, and the boat basin at Fort Thompson will be open by next weekend if the warm temps stick around.
So my favorite time of year is just about here......

Just a relaxing afternoon....
Well the weather was way too nice to NOT go fishing, so I headed south this afternoon. I still have all my ice fishing gear in the pickup, so I threw in a couple of casting rods and decided I would do what ever looked the best option.
So I set up from shore below the dam about 3pm, hoping they would run some water through the power house......
Well, I guessed wrong, they didn't run any water so the fish weren't biting........

a long winter
Having been laid up for the last 2 months, I am ready to go fishing. I did get to go ice fishing several times in December and had good luck and then Max took me down to the river once while I was recupping, much to my wife dismay. But didn't catch anything.
Hopefully my shoulder will get some strength soon so I can haul in some big ones this summer. so far I don't have to many guiding trips lined up for this summer, just one from May 28 to 30, with one more to line up for sure, plus a couple of trips with some of Drew's Nebraska buddies.
Hopefully we will get to spent several weekends at the river, camping with family and friends. Looking forward to seeing you all at the river!

Just thought this would be fun!
Thought I would start a blog to keep you updated on some of the fishing fun I plan for this summer. Just some notes from the groups I take out on the guided trips and all of my special trips taking the grandkids fishing. Hopefully I will get the hang of this blogging stuff soon, so I can have some blogging fun, keep you interested, and also having fun going fishing.
