a hard day at the office....

Well, I finished a 2 week long inspection project so I thought I should celebrate, by going FISHING. So I headed south and put in at North Shore boat landing and had some fun.

The walleyes must be spawning, but the smallmouth bass were hungry. Must have caught around 15 in 3 hours, due to the 14" to 18" throw back rule, I had a hard time catching some small ones to keep, I did bring home 3.
Yes that is 17&1/2" and I had to throw 4 of them back and several 15+"ers...................

Oh well, there is always tomorrow and in a week or so the walleyes will be done spawning and very hungry...........

morning out on the river....

We spent the morning out on the river, then the wind came up. It was great just to be out there. Went to West Bend area and fished, about 50 other boats were out and the fishing was......slow, very slow. I did catch one smallmouth bass that was in the can't keep slot(14&1/2"), so had to throw it back. The walleyes seem to be biting a little short, they stole several minnows. Sorry but I FORGOT MY CAMERA!! Bummer......

Once in a lifetime.......

This past week has been one for the record books for a retired local undertaker, who now spends his days fishing. He has had quite a week while dodging days of snow and sunshine, he managed to put together a few days of fishing that he will remember for a long time. First he caught a whopper Walleye, 13.67 pounds, 32 inches long, and 20 inches around. Then a few days later he caught an 8 pounder also! So now you know what explains that ear to ear smile! Way to go Mike!!!

Winter keeps hanging on....

We received more snow this week, but the sun is working on it and it may seem more like Spring toward the end of this week.

I ran down to the River yesterday afternoon, spent 3 hours visiting with Rod Vaughn at Diamond Willow Ministries. I continue to be encouraged by the work they do there on the Reservation, there are so many needs, and Rod and the Church there keep reaching out with open arms to help anywhere they can. Really gives meaning to "serve others as there is need!" You may check out their work at http://www.d-w-m.org/.

Of course while there, I looked at the remaining ice cover (it soon will be all gone), checked out the boat landings, and saw several out trying their luck, but not many fish were being caught yesterday.

I want to thank my son, Drew for updating a few things on my website including a link to this blog. Oh that reminds me, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DREW!!!!!!!!
